Sporrong produced a large number of medals during the 1970s and 1980s, with widely varying quality, to capitalize on the growing interest among collectors driven by rising precious metal prices and highly aggressive marketing from various medal manufacturers. It is fair to say that much of what Sporrong created during this period was of inconsistent quality, and as a result, many serious collectors referred to them simply as "the medal factory."

 

Nevertheless, Sporrong has produced many high-quality medals, often accompanied by exclusive packaging such as boxes made from precious wood. The craftsmanship has generally been good, and they frequently collaborated with respected sculptors and other artists for the designs. Here, I will showcase the individual medals from Sporrong that I have in my collection.
