This Sporrong - series - The Sea Heroes - is designed by the Norwegian sculptor Oddmund Raudberget (1932 - present), and issued in Platina (10 ex), Gold (100 ex), Silver (1000 ex) and Bronze (1.500 ex). Year of issue; 1977.

The medals was delivered in a beautiful box in stained oak.

Peter Wessel Tordenskiold (1690–1720) – A Norwegian-Danish naval officer famed for his daring and tactical brilliance during the Great Northern War, Tordenskiold became a national hero in Denmark-Norway. Rising swiftly through the ranks, he led many successful raids against Swedish forces, notably capturing the port of Marstrand in 1719. Known for his audacity and cunning, he was promoted to Vice Admiral by age 29 but died shortly after in a duel. His exploits made him a legendary figure in Scandinavian naval history.

Niels Juel (1629–1697) – A Danish admiral, Niels Juel is celebrated for his strategic prowess and role in establishing Denmark as a naval power during the 17th century. Known for his leadership in the Scanian War against Sweden, his victory at the Battle of Køge Bay in 1677 became one of Denmark’s greatest naval triumphs. Juel’s reforms and innovations in naval warfare and shipbuilding had a lasting impact on the Danish fleet, cementing his legacy as one of Denmark’s finest naval commanders.

Iver Huitfeldt (1665–1710)

Iver Huitfeldt (1665–1710) – A Danish-Norwegian naval officer remembered for his heroic sacrifice during the Great Northern War. Commanding the ship Dannebrog in 1710, Huitfeldt engaged Swedish forces near Køge Bay. When Dannebrog caught fire amid heavy fighting, he chose not to abandon ship, fearing the explosion would harm allied vessels. He perished with his crew in a massive blast, an act of bravery that has earned him a revered place in Danish naval history.
